Anamieke
Bio

'Fresh and Folky, Swing and Sultry' is one way of describing Phoenix-based indie folk-rock troubadour Anamieke Quinn.  'Melodic, lyrical, contemplative and comedic' also help to clarify her collection of quirky artsongs reminiscent of a blend of Fiona Apple, Neko Case and Sheryl Crow.  Bearing an acoustic Taylor guitar, you’ll see her in small venues, festivals, streets and subways across the US singing her heart out with finger-picked accents and an occasional whistle break.

Her first full-length album Anamieke Is Singing To YOU!! highlights her eclectic-yet-cohesive stylings from various recording sessions and artistic periods in a sort of introductory sampler platter.
After its release, she toured as a solo acoustic act and began building her label The Lion Rampant Records and sister company, Sidepony Music.

Her most recent release, The CaVa Sessions was recorded entirely in Glasgow, Scotland at CaVa Sound (home to Franz Ferdinand, Belle and Sebastian, Camera Obscura, Simple Minds and John Martyn).  It features simple solo guitar/vocals and includes the single "Ain't No Better Man", for which there is a video by Monica Ansell-Robinson.

In Spring of 2010, Anamieke was one of 5 finalists in the Taylor/Elixir Test Drive Acoustic contest, where she earned a brand new 414 guitar (thanks in no small part to the community of fans who showed their support).  During that time she was also the Paris Blues Artist of the Month, featured on their denim-sales site.  While busking in Austin during SXSW, her photo was snapped and included in a star-studded collection of 50 festival highlights by acclaimed photog Jay Janner.

As an entrepreneur she represents herself and a few other select artists, including traditional acoustic 'skastress' Sara McAllister, for whom Anamieke moonlights as a backup vocalist and upright bassist.

In 2011, she formed rock band Treasurefruit with lead guitarist Matt Ventre, bassist Adam Kohler and drummer Ehren Stonner; which has become her main musical focus (although she is still fully active in the Sara McAllister Duo).

Background

Raised in a musical family with heavy doses of jazz standards, symphonic music, motown and psychedelic rock; Anamieke grew up playing piano casually and double bass competitively. In her early teens she began writing songs and eventually picked up the acoustic guitar to accompany herself. In college she embraced the fretless electric bass and put together a band called “Anamieke & The Elements” which survived several incarnations of exotic instrumentation and personnel for a few years.

Now back on the acoustic and fronting Treasurefruit, the former solidly solo singer/songwriter Anamieke has opened for Brooklyn anti-folk heroes “Balthrop, Alabama” and Swedish jazz rappers “Movits!”, but will perhaps always be remembered in some circles for her participation in the infamous “Vegas ‘96” show where she joined Phish, John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde (Primus) and 4 Elvises as a yodelling cowgirl with an upright bass- an eventful night that is now available as a 2-disc cd/dvd boxed set.
